Privacy Policy: Fantasy Hall of Fame League Importer

Fantasy Hall of Fame League Importer is a Chrome extension that brings your ESPN and CBS fantasy football leagues into fantasyhoff.com and keeps them current. It is read-only: it never posts, trades, or changes anything in a league. Version 2.0 supports ESPN and CBS. Yahoo leagues connect directly on fantasyhoff.com and no longer use the extension.

Your Fantasy Hall of Fame account link

When you're signed in to fantasyhoff.com in the same Chrome profile, the site gives the extension an access token for your account. The token is kept only in the extension's own storage and is never shown to a web page. The extension uses it only to talk to Fantasy Hall of Fame's extension service, to:

• see which of your ESPN and CBS leagues are already in your Hall (league names and the provider's league IDs, nothing more);
• connect and renew CBS daily updates, described below;
• connect your Hall to ESPN when you choose Import, and renew that connection, described below.

A token expires 180 days after it's issued and is replaced when you visit fantasyhoff.com while signed in. Signing out of fantasyhoff.com, or choosing "Unlink this browser" in the extension's Settings, removes it from this browser and asks the service to revoke it. If that request can't reach the service, the token there may remain valid until it expires or this browser links again. After you unlink in Settings, the site doesn't link that browser again until you choose to from the extension. A different account signing in on the same browser replaces it.

ESPN

The extension reads exactly two ESPN sign-in cookies in your Chrome profile, SWID and espn_s2, using Chrome's cookies permission and its access to espn.com. It uses them to:

• show whether this browser is signed in to ESPN;
• list your ESPN football leagues, by asking ESPN's own profile service from your browser;
• connect your Hall to ESPN when you choose Import on a league (or hand them to a fantasyhoff.com page that asks, as earlier versions did);
• renew your Hall's existing ESPN connection when ESPN signs you in again and the cookies change. This is on by default and can be turned off with "Keep ESPN connected" in Settings. Fantasy Hall of Fame accepts a renewal only for the same ESPN account that is already connected.
• "Disconnect ESPN" in the panel removes your Hall's ESPN connection, as disconnecting ESPN on fantasyhoff.com does, so the next import can connect a different ESPN account.

It doesn't access cookies from any other website except CBS, below.

CBS

CBS access is optional. The first time you ask, Chrome asks you to let the extension read cbssports.com. If you allow it, the extension:

• checks whether this browser is signed in to CBS, by looking for CBS's sign-in cookies;
• lists your CBS football leagues from the "My Teams" list CBS shows you when you're signed in;
• imports a league you choose by opening that league's CBS page in a new tab, reading the league information CBS shows you there (league and team names, manager display names and provider IDs, schedules, standings, scores, rosters, draft results, and transactions when available), and closing the tab again. If the league is already open in a tab, it uses that tab.

With "Save full CBS archive pages" on (the default), an import also keeps sanitized copies of that league's own CBS report pages, such as history, franchise, transaction, roster and statistics reports linked from the league's history page. Scripts, forms, images, hidden content, chat, and any row that mentions a password, token, or e-mail address are removed before anything leaves the page. If you don't allow CBS access, you can still import the league open in your current tab.

CBS daily updates

CBS has no public way to read a league, so keeping a CBS league current needs your CBS sign-in. Daily updates are on by default ("Keep CBS leagues updated daily" in Settings). For the CBS leagues you own in your Hall, and for a league right after you import it, the extension sends Fantasy Hall of Fame the CBS cookies Chrome would send to that league's pages. It never sends your CBS password. Fantasy Hall of Fame uses that session only to read that league's data from CBS for its daily update, and to check that your sign-in works when you connect or renew it. These requests are read-only.

So updates keep working, the extension renews the session when you visit CBS (at most every six hours per league) and reconnects a league after CBS signed you out and you signed in again. If a connection can't be made, it tries again later, less often each time, and right away after you sign in to CBS again. Turning daily updates off stops this and disconnects the leagues connected from this browser, which deletes their stored sessions. If this browser isn't linked to your account at that moment, it disconnects them the next time it is. "Disconnect CBS" in the extension's panel does the same and then removes the extension's CBS access, once every disconnect has gone through.

When data is sent

• League data: only after you choose Import.
• CBS sessions: only after you've allowed CBS access, only for CBS leagues you own in your Hall or have just imported, and only while daily updates are on.
• ESPN cookies: when you choose Import on an ESPN league, when a fantasyhoff.com page you're using asks to connect ESPN, and, while "Keep ESPN connected" is on, when ESPN's cookies have changed since they were last sent.

Everything goes to Fantasy Hall of Fame at https://fantasyhoff.com. The extension answers only https://fantasyhoff.com and https://www.fantasyhoff.com pages and checks the requesting page's address before answering. It doesn't monitor your browsing or build a history of the pages you visit. It reacts to page loads on ESPN and CBS only to renew connections as described above.

Storage and retention

In your browser the extension keeps: the account token, with your account's ID, email and display name (shown in the panel); a random link ID the site uses to replace or revoke that token; whether you unlinked it in Settings; a copy of your account's ESPN and CBS league list (names and provider league IDs) so the panel opens quickly; your three Settings; which CBS leagues it connected or is waiting to connect for daily updates, when, and the last result it showed you (no cookie); one-way fingerprints of your ESPN cookies and your CBS sign-in, so it doesn't resend unchanged ones and retries at once after you sign in again; and import handoffs. It doesn't keep ESPN or CBS cookies. Import handoffs expire after 24 hours and are deleted once the site confirms receipt; unfinished collection progress stays available for a retry until it expires.

Fantasy Hall of Fame stores ESPN and CBS sessions encrypted at rest until you disconnect them, the provider ends them, or you delete your account. Imported league data and bounded source evidence are stored encrypted for reprocessing and diagnosis. CBS pages are trimmed to exclude scripts and embedded credentials. Temporary upload parts expire after 24 hours. Season replacements keep encrypted backups so the previous accepted season can be restored. Deleting your account removes these records.

Versions before 2.0

Chrome updates the extension to 2.0 on its own. Until it does, an earlier version works as described here, and the rest of this policy applies to it too. Earlier versions have no account link.

• Yahoo: runs only when you open it on a Yahoo Fantasy Football tab and choose Import. It reads the league information Yahoo shows that signed-in page (your league list and, for each league you import, team names, manager display names and provider IDs, standings, schedules, scores, drafts and transactions), using requests made from inside that Yahoo tab. It never reads or sends a Yahoo password, cookie or token, and it has no lasting access to Yahoo. Yahoo import progress expires after an hour and handoffs after 24 hours.
• CBS: exports the CBS league tab you open it on. Daily updates are a choice per league (on by default in 1.7, under "Manage daily updates" before that). Choosing them asks Chrome for access to that league's CBS pages and fantasyhoff.com, then sends that league's CBS cookies (never a password) to Fantasy Hall of Fame through a signed-in fantasyhoff.com page, which 1.7 may open in the background for a moment. It renews them when you visit that league.
• ESPN: SWID and espn_s2 are sent only when you ask to connect ESPN on fantasyhoff.com.

This section will be removed once earlier versions are no longer in use.

Manual ESPN connection

Settings includes a support fallback that copies one ESPN cookie value to your clipboard when you click Copy. The extension doesn't read or monitor other clipboard contents.

Sharing, sale, advertising, and analytics

We don't sell sign-in information or league data, and don't use it for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or anything other than importing and updating the leagues you ask for. The extension has no ads, no advertising or cross-site tracking, and no remote code.

The extension sends Fantasy Hall of Fame small diagnostic reports: when you open it, when it links to an account, when you allow or decline CBS access, when you click "Sign in to CBS" or Import on an ESPN league, when a CBS import starts, finishes or fails, when it tries to connect daily updates, when it renews ESPN, and once a day with a count of how many of your CBS leagues are connected for daily updates. A report contains the step, whether it worked, any error message the extension showed you (with any web address removed), how long it took, counts such as the number of seasons or leagues found, whether the extension is linked, whether this browser is signed in to CBS and ESPN, what kind of site your current tab is on (a CBS league, another CBS page, ESPN, Fantasy Hall of Fame, or something else), the extension version, and a random install ID. That install ID is separate from the account link and isn't tied to your account. Reports never contain league names or IDs, league data, page addresses, cookies, or account details, and they're sent without your sign-in.

Data is shared only as needed to provide what you ask for: with Fantasy Hall of Fame, with ESPN or CBS for sign-in checks and read-only league retrieval, and with infrastructure providers that host, store, secure and operate Fantasy Hall of Fame on our behalf. They may use it only to provide those services and must protect it.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Fantasy Hall of Fame's use and transfer of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Access and processing are automated. Fantasy Hall of Fame personnel and people working on our behalf do not manually read extension-derived user data unless you give explicit consent for a specific support request, access is necessary to investigate abuse or a security incident, access is required to comply with applicable law, or the data has been aggregated and anonymized for permitted internal operations.

Your choices

Using the extension is optional; Fantasy Hall of Fame keeps a manual ESPN connection path. You can decline Chrome's CBS access prompt, turn off daily CBS updates or ESPN renewal in Settings, unlink the extension from your account in Settings, disconnect ESPN or delete CBS exports in your Fantasy Hall of Fame account, remove imported seasons, delete your account, remove the extension from Chrome, or sign out of either provider at any time.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version and effective date will be posted at this URL. Material changes to extension permissions or data use will also be reflected in the Chrome Web Store disclosures.
